The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin said the activities of the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, in the country have helped greatly in enhancing and complementing the efforts of the police in the task of securing the lives and properties of the citizenry.
The Speaker said this when the executive council of the PCRC, Oyo state Command led by its Chairman Rev. Peter Omofoye paid a courtesy visit to him in his office.
According to Ogundoyin, the task of policing the society is the joint responsibility of all and sundry hence, the full involvement of members of the PCRC in providing logistic support and intelligence to the Nigerian Police is a welcome development.
He reiterated the unwavering resolve of the PDP Government in Oyo state to improve on the peace and security of the state adding that without security there will not be adequate development in all sectors of the economy.
The Speaker Oyo State House of Assembly stressed the need for Government at all levels to support the aims and objectives of the PCRC especially in the area of ensuring good relationship between the Police and members of the public.
The Oyo state command of the Committee thereafter decorated the Oyo Speaker with the Most Notable PCRC Patron Award.
The Chairman, Oyo State Command of the PCRC, Rev Peter Omofoye had earlier said there were about four hundred and fifty thousand members of the committee spread across all local Governments in the state.
He said that the PCRC has continued to give support to the Oyo state Police Command in discharging its duties stressing that several operational and patrol vehicles had been purchased for the police force in Oyo state.
Rev Omofoye who maintained that the PCRC will not achieve much success without the support of Government and other well meaning Nigerians sought the collaboration of Oyo state House of Assembly in the activities of the committee.
