Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Barr. Adesina Michael Adeyemo, has advised members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria.
The speaker said he is not happy with the current face-off between the executive and the national assembly. To him, it is affecting the pace of development in the country.
According to the lawmaker, he was not satisfied with the state of the nation and for him, he sees the former Lagos Governor and national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has the only person that has the magic wand to turn things around, especially within the party.
Speaking on a television programme monitored by our correspondent in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, the Lanlate-born lawyer said: “I am very sure Asiwaju is a statesman. I believe he has that magic wand to turn things round. He is humble and always ready to sacrifice anything. He was not acknowledged as the national leader, and we are all seeing the result; see the mess. He has the spirit and soul of APC. He conceived and nurtured the idea and he moved on. He has taken the soul, life and spirit of the party. Until you allow him to come in, things will worsen. Let him come and put things in place and ensure sanity.
“This is not about the president; this is about recognising the brain behind this party. The president was invited; he doesn’t understand the intricacies and principle behind APC. Asiwaju merged and brought people in. You saw all what happened at the national convention, in Lagos. They resolved it; you cannot sideline Asiwaju,” he submitted.
He opined that President Muhammadu Buhari would have done much if not for his health challenge. “We will just be deceiving ourselves if we say the president can do much. His health challenge won’t allow him. You cannot see the president taking that leadership role of the party. Where is his hand there? We have to have somebody now. And whether we like it or not, we just need to appeal to Asiwaju; the APC is his brainchild. He built it and he should not allow it crumble. In the spirit of his birthday, Asiwaju should come in. He has that large heart to put every differences behind. He should come in to save the party,” he concluded.
