The Oyo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for calm in the judgment of the Court of Appeal between the state government and the state’s chapter of Association of Local Governments Of Nigeria led by Abass Aleshinloye.
The ALGON members sought the court action over what they termed “unconstitutional and illegal dissolution of the Elected Local Government Administration in Oyo State.”
But Justice Haruna Tsammani of the Federal Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Wednesday struck out the case. Justice Tsammani said the sacked local government Chairmen failed to show verifiable facts of the plan by the Oyo State governor to dissolve the councils.
He said the case was based on mere speculations and conjectures.
In a statement issued by its AbdulAzeez Olatunde, the part’s Publicity Secretary, Oyo APC said:
“The judgment of the court of Appeal in the unconstitutional and illegal dissolution of the Elected Local Government Administration in Oyo State of Wednesday 15th July 2020 would be given to Oyo State APC Legal Team for scrutiny when received.
“Thereafter, the Oyo State APC would await the Legal advice on the next step and way forward.
“APC Oyo State has been known for peace and as such would counsel all APC members in Oyo State to go about their endeavours peacefully and await the next step to be taken in line with the advice of our team of legal experts.”
