Your Excellency,
Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde,
Executive Governor of Oyo state.
I wish this letter meets you well. May God Almighty continue to guide you in the onerous task of taking our dear state to enviable height.
Your Excellency sir, I learned that the 33 Chairmen of local government councils in Oyo state recently pulled out of ALGON, the umbrella body of local government councils in Nigeria. This decision, it was alleged was taken in obeisance to you and to show their support and loyalty to your opposition to local government financial autonomy. But I doubt this.
I am aware sir that loyalty has to be 100 percent, and I commended the Chairmen for being loyal disciples, my prayer is that may their loyalty never be tested.
Your Excellency sir, the import of this letter is to kindly appeal to the loyal disciples to realize that it is good to loyal, but while loyalty may be seen as ethical compliance in the way we play our politics, it is never a law, and when the two is put to acid test, the position of the law will stand tall.
In view of the foregoing, they should kindly maintain this loyalty, while upholding the position of the law of the land. Essentially, the position of law as adjudicated by the apex court in the land is that allocation coming to each of these local government areas is theirs, and should not be tampered with under the guise of loyalty.
I wish to remind you that my community, Ilero in Kajola Local Government is part of Oyo state, and in the last 13 years, we have not seen the touch of a state governor. The last we saw was the abandoned water work commenced under the administration of late Governor General-Adebayo Alao Akala (may God rest his soul), that the project has advanced to 70 percent completion stage did not attract Your Excellency or your predecessor.
We therefore appeal that money sent to Kajola be kindly allowed to be used to develop communities in that council. We have seen your midas touch in other parts of the state, we crave for development in our community as well.
Once again thank you, as I pray again that may the loyalty of the council chairmen never be tested.
Yours sincerely.
