The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East II State constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Owolabi Olusola Adewale has empowered youths and small scale business owners with cash to support their businesses.
About 60 youths and small scale business owners received the cash during the People’s Democratic Party local government meeting in Ibadan North East LGA on Thursday in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
While speaking, the lawmaker said the empowerment was to support youths, market women who are small scale business owners to boost their businesses.
Owolabi said it is in continuation of what he has been doing in the past. He listed some of these as Olusola Adult and Literacy Center, Empowerment of women, support for party leaders, digging of boreholes, renovation of mosque and many others.
He said he won’t relent in his efforts to make his constituents enjoy the dividends of democracy.
He also commended the Governor of Oyo state, Engineer Seyi Makinde for putting the love of people at heart with his people-friendly policies.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with newsmen after receiving the cash empowerment commended the lawmaker for the kind gesture. They noted that despite the hardship, the lawmaker was able to do this for them. They also vowed to make judicious use of the money.
While speaking, Mr Abdullahi Ishola from ward 12, said the lawmaker has paid them back for their efforts towards making him win at the poll.
He said: I’m happy he didn’t pay us back with regret. This empowerment is one of the many he has done in the past. I pray God will continue to bless him for us.”
Mr Abiodun Akinpelu, who sells tyre at Agodi Gate market said he will add the money to his capital. He expressed hope that this will boost his business. He also prayed that the lawmaker will excel.
Also speaking, the party chairman in Ibadan North East LG, Alhaji Isiaka Fatokun commended the lawmaker for the gesture.
He added the lawmaker has been doing well since his emergence as the lawmaker representing the constituency.
He also prayed for Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state.
