The third phase of the multi-million naira street light projects executed by the lawmaker representing Ibadan South East Constituency II in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige has been commissioned by a former governor of Oyo State and national leader of the Accord, Senator Rashidi Ladoja.
The new street lights were installed at Orita Aperin-Adesola-CAC-Lagos Ibadan Expressway respectively with a large generating set to power them.
For many years, the areas have been haven for criminally-minded people. Many people had either been robbed and dispossessed of their valuables or murdered at night whenever there was a blackout.
It was learnt that crime rate has reduced drastically since Ige installed the street lights to illuminate the areas.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Ladoja hailed the performance of the lawmaker, who was a council chairman, within his constituency.
The former Governor enjoined the people to shine their eyes as the 2019 election is approaching in order not to elect a government “without human face again in the state.”
Meanwhile, the Ibadan South East local government chapter of the Nigeria Union of Tailors (NUT) has honoured the legislator with an award of excellence in recognition of his efforts to the growth and development of the union in the state.
The award, it would be learnt, was part of the programme lined up for the swearing in of the new executive members of the union held at IMG Alake Primary School, Academy, Ibadan.
While presenting the award to Ige, the State President of NUT, Mogaji Abdul Razak Adeyemo described the lawmaker as “a silent achiever who has impacted positively on the lives of many people during and after his tenure as the council chairman and therefore, worthy of celebration for his selfless service both in his public and private life.
Responding, Ige thanked the union for the honour accorded him, stressing that the award would spur him to do more for the people that elected him.
He equally promised to give ten slots to members of the union in the second phase of his economic/financial empowerment programme coming up shortly after the Ramadan fasting as well as assisting them to build their union house.
