Oyo State Government has commenced training of one hundred and ninety-nine facilitators to enrol beneficiaries into the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme.
The Oyo State Head, State Cash Transfer Unit, Mr. Akintunde Gbadamosi stated this in Ibadan, at a workshop for Cash Transfer facilitators from the thirty-three local government areas of the state.
Mr. Gbadamosi noted that the beneficiaries were expected to receive a monthly stipend of twenty-five thousand naira for three months.
He said the training of officers will fast-track the process and make it easier for the beneficiaries to access the cash transfer.
Gbadamosi also said a total of 199 Local Government officers working on the project comprising 33 desk officers, 133 cash transfer facilitators, and 33 Grievance Redress Officers are being trained to be knowledgeable on the procedure for enrollment and sensitization of the beneficiaries.
Mr. Gbadamosi stated that 240,649 poor and vulnerable households are the beneficiaries, drawn from the 33 LGAs of the State to enjoy the National Social Safety Net Project Scale-Up (NASSP-SU) for three months.
The Head of the Cash Transfer Unit observed that the exercise focused on the unbanked households in the state social register.
The coordinator stressed that the National Identification Number (NIN) is the acceptable means of identification for eligibility.
He reiterated that each beneficiary will be paid the sum of N25,000 per month for three payments, culminating in total financial support of N75,000.
He stressed that this support is to contribute significantly to the wellbeing of residents, due to the hardship caused by the current economic reforms in the country.
Some of the facilitators who spoke with newsmen expressed their readiness to accomplish the task of enumerating beneficiaries.
The Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Program is a partnership between the World Bank, the Federal Government and State governments to uplift fifteen million poor and vulnerable Nigerians.
