The Oyo State House of Assembly has said that the State Gaming and Lottery Board Bill currently before it is meant to address leakages in the industry and increase revenue generated into the coffers of the State Government.
This was the submission of the State House of Assembly Thursday during plenary just as the bill scales 2nd reading.
According to the lawmakers, the bill when passed will ensure that all gaming and lottery activities in the state are conducted in line with stipulated constitutional guidelines.
Leading the debate at the floor of the House, the Majority Leader , Hon Sanjo Adedoyin said it was meant to bring sanity into the Gaming and Lottery businesses in Oyo State
” There’s the need to ensure that Gaming and Lottery business in Oyo State is uplifted and updated to international standard and operated in line with contemporary practices. This is what the Bill seeks to achieve ” Hon Adedoyin said.
The Bill will further see to the establishment of Gaming and Lottery board in the State.
It will equally grant licences and permits for Gaming, Betting, Lottery, Casino and other related activities.
The board will also be empowered to issue guidelines or policy documents on responsible gaming, remote and electronic gaming, monitoring platforms, gaming and lottery advertisement, gaming and lottery premises and their usages as well as non-commercial and private gaming permits.
