Oyo State environmental task force, on Monday, through a special tribunal, prosecuted and sanctioned 10 individuals for violating the state environmental laws.
The offenders were arrested at different locations in the state and were tried by the environmental taskforce tribunal at the environmental task force office located at Agodi in Ibadan.
The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Barrister Idowu Oyeleke, while addressing newsmen, restated that the state would continue to arrest those who are bent to sabotage the efforts of the government in achieving a clean, safe and healthy environment in Oyo state.
On his part, the chairman, Oyo state environmental taskforce, Assistant Commissioner of Police Francis Ojomo, said the task force has so far raked in N6 million for the government and prosecuted over 200 individuals for various offenses.
In his remark, the Special Assistant to governor Seyi Makinde on youth and sports who doubles as a member of the newly constituted task force on waste management in Oyo State, Hon. Kazeem Bolarinwa noted that the newly constituted committee would ensure that environmental law defaulters are arrested and prosecuted.
