The Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate on Wednesday, February 16, 2026, formally admitted newly enrolled NCE I students into the institution at its 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony.
The event, held at the TETFUND Twin Hall of the College, attracted members of the Governing Council, College Management Team, Deans, Directors of academic and non-academic programmes, teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as parents and guardians of the matriculating students.
In his welcome address, the Acting Provost, Dr. Suebu Olaide Lamidi, congratulated the students on their successful admission, describing the matriculation as a significant rite of passage that marks their full integration into the academic community. He reminded them that their admission was a privilege, noting that they were selected from many applicants who sought entry into the institution.
Dr. Lamidi urged the students to acquaint themselves thoroughly with the Students’ Information Handbook and to seek guidance from their departmental staff advisers whenever necessary. He cautioned against any conduct capable of disrupting the peace and harmony of the College and its host community, stressing that appropriate sanctions would be imposed on offenders.
Assuring the students of Management’s commitment to their welfare, the Acting Provost advised that concerns affecting students should be channelled through the Students’ Union Government and the Directorate of Students’ Affairs for consideration within available resources. He reiterated the College’s openness to constructive dialogue on issues relating to students’ wellbeing.
Dr. Lamidi expressed profound appreciation to the Oyo State Government for its continued support, particularly commending the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, for his commitment to educational development. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Governing Council, led by Comrade Samuel Olusegun Oyewumi, alongside the Management team and staff unions for their dedication and cooperation.
The Acting Provost further appreciated the hospitality of the Lanlate community and its elders for sustaining a peaceful and conducive learning environment. He also recognised the prompt intervention of the Oyo State Government in matters concerning the institution.
Administering the matriculation oath, Dr. Lamidi reminded the students that the oath represents a binding commitment to uphold the rules and values of the College, warning that violations could result in the termination of studentship. He reaffirmed the institution’s zero tolerance for antisocial behaviour, indecent dressing and any act capable of tarnishing its image.
In his concluding remarks, he charged the students to remain disciplined, focused and diligent in their academic pursuits, ensure timely payment of prescribed fees and conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of their parents and the institution at all times.
