The Association of Waterwell Drilling Rig Owners and Practitioners (AWDROP), Oyo State chapter has resolved leadership crisis occasioned by the N30,000 permit by the Oyo State Government.

It was gathered that the state government since administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi imposed fee of N30,000 on borehole drillers in the state which borehole drillers kicked against in strong term as an imposition of tariff by the state government through ministry of Environment.

This has however led to controversy among borehole drillers who resorted to remove the state chairman, Engr. Kolawole Olayinka with allegation that he is the brain behind the permit debacle.

Meanwhile, the protracted crisis have been resolved at the South West zonal meeting of the association hosted in Ibadan where the state chairman was absolved of all allegations and members are now peacefully going about their activities.

At the meeting which was presided by the zonal Vice-President of the association, Alhaji Oluwatoyin Yusuf, members of the association resolved to embrace peace and ensure that borehole drilling practitioners are assured of a bright future.

Alhaji Yusuf therefore implored all those present and by extension, those who were not in the meeting to register as financial members, in order to fully enjoy the benefits and privileges of the association.

He also stated that with the launch of the constitution in Abuja on July 6, 2019, members’ conducts would henceforth be guided by the provisions of the constitution.

He informed the members that the crisis brewing in Oyo State Chapter has been resolved and that he has resolved that five copies of the constitution will be giving to the state’s association leader, Mr. Arowosafe David for onward distribution to other pioneers and equally advised all other members to obtain their own copies of the constitution for necessary guidance.

Meanwhile, the communiqué released to journalists after the meeting reads that “the state chapter in the reports highlighted the various initiatives and activities they embarked upon especially the plans to establish a school for drillers in Lagos and water factory in Ondo State.

Also, participants at the meeting condemned attempt by misinformed members’ in the state to dissolved state Exco of the association.

The statement also says the state chairmen and other participants unanimously agreed that the association’s constitution should be strictly follow and Oyo State incumbent chairman, Engr. Kolawole Olayinka should continue to function and represent the association until general election slated for February 6, 2020 comes up and new Exco is inaugurated.

The members therefore concluded that the Southwest zone of AWDROP utterly condemns the attempt to dissolve the Oyo State Chapter of the association by the misinformed members without complying with provisions of the association’s constitution and hereby call on National Body, led by Engr. Michael Ale to take a hard stand on the issue.
