Members of the ethics committee of the Oyo State House of Assembly have quizzed some top officials of the state government over the inauguration of two rejected chairmanship nominees and the substitution of a confirmed nominee with another person, without the consent of the legislative body.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi had inaugurated Mr. Mudasiru Agbaje (Irepo local government) and Mr. Taiwo Adeleke (Asabari local council development areas- LCDA) who were found to be ‘unappointable’ and rejected by the House and Mr. Abiodun Oladeji, instead of Akeem Aransi who was screened by the House to man Lagelu West LCDA).
Embarrassed by the action, the House had summoned the officials, for explanation.
The House, Inside Oyo gathered, gave the committee two weeks to submit its findings and recommendation.
Those questioned included the permanent secretary in the ministry of local government and chieftaincy matters, Mrs Olawumi Ogunesan, commissioner in the ministry, Hon. Bimbo Kolade, secretary to the state government, Alhaji Alli Olalekan, head of local government administration in Irepo local government as well as the council managers in Asabari and Lagelu West LCDAs. Also questioned was the permanent secretary in the cabinet office. Sources told Inside Oyo.
Sources told Inside Oyo that the committee will present its report this week when the House resumes plenary.
