In its preparation towards the National Convention slated for February, the African Democratic Party, (ADP) Oyo state chapter, has commenced sensitization of stakeholders in the state.

Apostle Ojo in his words said, “We are here today to have a stakeholders meeting ahead of the National Convention, especially with the chairmen of our party throughout the state to sensitize them on the National convention that is slated for February 25th of this year at the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.”

Ojo maintained that the meeting was important because there was need to discuss about the non elective convention that will commence on February 5th till 19th in the state from wards level to the state level.

He added the death of former Governor Adebayo Alao Akala was a big blow and huge loss to party, the state and Nigeria as whole.

Apostle Ojo said: “the death of the former Governor of the state, Otunba Alao Akala made us to feel remorse because is our leader, his death was a shock to us, in the last election he was our gubernatorial candidate before he defected to APC three days to the election but his impact in our party was well felt during the time he was with us in ADP. We know him to be a man of honour, a man of humour, he was a respected man of integrity, this is man that lived to leave a mark in the political era. May God uphold the state, the Oyo State to overcome this huge loss.

“We use this time to condole with the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde on the demise of the former Governor Otunba Alao Akala, and we are trusting God that all will be well with our party, because during his time we were able to have our Federal Honourable and state Honourable. He made what ADP in Oyo state to be what we are today, so we thank God for his life and for what he has done for the ADP and it’s our believe that all will be well with our party and the family he left behind and the state at large may his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”

Also in his words, the Vice State Chairman of ADP, Alhaji Shina Ajala, who also doubles as the Oyo South Senatorial Chairman of the party said “today’s meeting has given us the direction of where we are going in the year 2023. Today the state chairman has explained everything we need to know for us. What we need now is that all our state chairmen that are here should go back to their various areas to start sensitizing the party members in their area about the national convention as well as selection and a peaceful conduct of picking our executives from the wards level to the state level and to the national level.

“We implore all our members to be of good conduct and allow peaceful conduct of the convention in their various local government areas as this will surely help us at the general election in the year 2023 and it is our believe that by the year 2023, God is going to give us the edge to conquer in the elections both at the state level and at the national level.” Ajala said.
