The crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Oyo state chapter has started withering the party as members of the Unity Forum shop for alternative political party ahead of 2019 general elections
The break away faction from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, the Unity Forum members may dump ADC today if today’s meeting with the chairman of the party, Chief Nwosu does not yield a fruitful result.
According to a statement obtained by Insideoyo.com. It reads in part:
“We had several meetings yesterday and we succeeded in having a united front . And it was unanimously agreed that we remained in ADC while talks continue on plan B Incase plan fails.
“We have also resolved that for us to take ADC seriously the national chairman must come to Ibadan today to meet our selected team to finalize our agreement in Abeokuta and our team will be led by our indifagutable distinguished senator Monsurat Sumonu, Alh Fatai Ibikunle and some notable leaders in the state.”
The outcome of the meeting held with ex President Olusegun Obasanjo by the conflicting parties in Oyo ADC is yet to be made public even after 24 hours, just as sources informed that the Unity Forum doubt its positive end result following the action taken by ex Governor Rashidi Ladoja and Chief Michael Koleosho, a one time Secretary to Oyo state government, in organizing a party congress which the breakaway faction labeled illegal and breaching of trust, making working together rather difficult.
It would be recalled that the crisis in the Oyo ADC started when a faction of the party led by Senator Ladoja and Chief Michael Koleosho held a congress that excluded members of the Unity forum. According to Dr. Busari Adebisi, the Unity Forum leader, the congress was not only “spurious but also curious, a congress many have said it’s illegal, if the intervention of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo will bring solace to the troubled party remains to be seen”.
