The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Engr Seyi Makinde on Wednesday, engaged the social media community on governance issues and his plans ahead of 2019 elections.

He used the medium to explain how he will grow the economy, tackle the issue of inadequate infrastructure and the rot in the educational and health sector and improve the living standards of our people.
Here are some of the discussion on Twitter:
Good governance requires the government and the governed to play their part. On our part, we will operate a transparent government and do away with the secrecy with which governance is carried out in our state. This will lead to accountability to the governed. #AskSeyiMakinde https://t.co/kKQtoFuuMD

We will explore the possibility of Oyo State taking over LAUTECH by sitting down to discuss this with Osun State government. The main problem is funding which means we have to ensure that the institution is adequately funded from the budget. 1/2 https://t.co/yiVllTSOaH

LAUTECH is the main economic hub of Ogbomoso. Therefore prioritising it will align with our vision to improve the economy of the State in general and Ogbomosho in particular. We will pay special attention to the issue. #AskSeyiMakinde https://t.co/yiVllTSOaH

Lastly, on the issue of payment of WAEC fees, this will depend on the economic reality of the state #AskSeyiMakinde https://t.co/yiVllUap2f

First step is wealth creation & fighting poverty. We'll do this by concentrating on our land based resources – agriculture & agro-allied ventures so that we reduce our dependence on FAAC allocations. And when we have successfully done that we can tax appropriately #AskSeyiMakinde https://t.co/Vi1mfcN4f8

We have a very detailed plan in our manifesto for education which will be available once campaigns commence on Dec 1. The budgetary allocation will be a minimum of 10% to education in our first year, increasingly yearly. #AskSeyiMakinde https://t.co/gQ7GUtmIZS

No, simply because we are not elected to deal with that. We will be elected to grow the economy, tackle the issue of inadequate infrastructure and the rot in the educational and health sector and improve the living standards of our people. #AskSeyiMakinde https://t.co/ICyScOHCMP

We don't have the true picture yet of what is going on there but as a govt, we commit ourselves to inheriting both the assets and liabilities of the previous govt and will deal with all issues as appropriate. #AskSeyiMakinde https://t.co/hHF4IT8kzz

We intend to revive farm settlements. We'll explore PPP for the Ikere Gorge Dam. The potential if that's functional is it can irrigate about 12,000 hectares of farm land. Of course, we will look into input/output and affordable credit guarantee schemes for farmers #AskSeyiMakinde https://t.co/4cI5VJWmyU

Good question. We'll simplify the apparatus of governance such that people will have access to information. I will lead the charge to deal with feedback from our people by putting in place a sustainable feedback system that is functional and effective. #AskSeyiMakinde https://t.co/Iuu3jNn8mC

The debt situation is unsustainable so the first thing we will do once we are elected is ensure that we have a more balanced budget which isn't so dependent on debt. This will be done by ensuring that capital spending is tied to the econ. Also growing the economy. #AskSeyiMakinde https://t.co/xiwJJJDlb4
