The Director General of Oyebisi Ilaka Campaign Organization, Alhaji Bola Akinyemi, has said that Chief Oyebisi Ilaka has been screened and cleared to contest for the Oyo central senatorial district election by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
He made this disclosure while speaking with pressmen on Friday in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Recall that insideOYO.com had earlier reported that the Chief Bisi Ilaka was remanded in Agodi prison and his bodyguard, Temitayo Alamiyo, for allegedly causing the death of three persons at the Oranyan festival in Oyo town.
Akinyemi also hinted that Chief Bisi Ilaka is the only party’s aspirant for Oyo central senatorial district and has automatically becomes the party’s candidate.
“I wish to inform the whole world that his political journey is not suffering any set back at all. He is not only an aspirant, he is the PDP’s candidate for Oyo . He was screened yesterday and he has been cleared. He has been issued provisional certificate of clearance to contest the election. His certificate where screened and he has been given clearance. We urge our members and supporters to pray for our principal, Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka”
He mentioned some of the laudable projects Bisi Ilaka is embarking on in while in prison.
“There are some people in Agodi who are not suppose to be there, may be for non payment of small fine. There is prisoner who has been there since 2016 without his case being mentioned. He has hired a lawyer for that person. Some of them have not been able to get their bail because there is no money. He has paid for some people.
“Last week, he bought two footballs for the inmates. That’s the kind of person he is. So, they have started their competition today. Again before he had problem, he was the one that gave them a toilet sometimes ago, which he has even forgotten he did. Ilaka is the mind and heart of the people. He is the man of the people. Rather than bring him down, this issue has further catapulted his political ambition.”
When asked about the intervention of the People’s Democratic Party at the National level and the leading gubernatorial aspirant of the party in the state concerning the ordeal of Bisi Ilaka.
He said “The hierarchy of the party sent down their own legal representation in Ilaka matter. And by the time we start our defence now, we see the face of lawyers we have in the legal team. The party at the National level is aware. He is suffering because of the refusal to align with the ruling party. They felt it’s an opportunity to deal with him.
“Seyi Makinde and Chief Bisi Ilaka have been friends and brothers, Ilaka being older. So, whether Seyi Makinde is around or not, Bisi Ilaka and Seyi Makinde have been glued together”
