To ensure that its pledge of delivering one million votes to its preferred candidates in the 2019 general elections, a socio-political group- Itesiwaju-Oyo Coalition Movement (ICM), has inaugurated a team of 768 volunteers.
This is just as the group urged Nigerians to observe a one-day fast and prayer for full recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari. According to its coordinator, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, the volunteers were selected and trained from various professional, social and political groups.
At the event which took place at the University of Ibadan, Olatubosun explained that it had become expedient for the group to swing into actions so as to be able bring about a new political order in the state, in 2019.
The erstwhile chairman of Ibadan North West local government added that the volunteers who had just completed a two week training , “would embark on massive political sensitisation in all the 351 wards and over 4000 polling units across the 5 geo-political zones of 33 local government areas of the state.”
Olatubosun, who was the publicity secretary and later secretary of the defunct Action Congres of Nigeria, ACN, in Oyo State, disclosed that “the team would be exploring one-on-one, door-to-door, house-to-house model of political marketing strategies for the sensitisation campaign to encourage political participation, voters registration and change of fixated perceptions among the people at the grassroots toward the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the country.”
