The Senator representing Oyo North senatorial district in the Senate, Dr Abdulfatai Buhari is set to formally declare is intention to contest for governor of Oyo state in 2019 under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former House of Representatives member, Buhari who hails from Ogbomoso is the Chairman Senate committee on Information Communication Technology (ICT) and has been adjudged as the best amongst other National legislators representing the state specifically the present 8th Assembly.
He is set to join over 25 other aspirants including Alao Akala aiming to win the gubernatorial ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in the state.
Speaking with one of his aides from Oke-Ogun area who earlier reeled out his leadership experience in his Facebook post, he confirmed the development to insideOYO.com, noting that the coast is clear. He may declare soon.
“Yes, the people want him for governorship, especially the Oke Ogun people who have enjoyed his leadership qualities being their Senator. So, he may declare soon as the coast is already clear”, he said.
Buhari’s billboards have been spotted in some strategic locations in Oyo state especially the Oyo North senatorial district where he represents. However, no inscription of any aspiring office or position in the billboards.
Regardless of the power shift agitation by other geopolitical zones of the state, Buhari, a former House of Representatives member and commissioner in Oyo State has since the inception of the inauguration of Governor Ajimobi for second term in office expressed his intention to govern the state in exploring his experience to better the lots of people.
