You Can Only Run, You Can’t Hide – Oyo APC Tells Makinde

Following the publication of names of gubernatorial candidates of all political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the candidate of Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the forthcoming 2019 governorship election in Oyo State, Engr. Oyedele Hakeem Alao appreciates the leadership and members of his party, his teeming supporters, friends and families for their support so far while appealing to the aggrieved party members to rally round his candidature for the sake of the party’s victory.

In a statement issued in Ibadan and personally signed by him, the Structural Engineer call on party members to overlook all their grievances in the interest of peace.

“I am using this opportunity to appeal to all the aggrieved members of our party to forgo all the inadequacies of the past. We have the obligation of delivering the people of Oyo State from shackles of the poverty-driven APC and its remnants. It is beckon on us to build a virile and credible alternative structure where the true progressive ideology we stand for can effectively be exhibited. ”

” I am also appealing to everyone who has issue to grind with the National Leadership of our party over the dissolution of the State Executive in April and the appointment of the caretaker committee to in the interest of our party withdraw all court cases and let us sit down as brothers and sisters to resolve our internal crisis. We need to work as a team, build a formidable party that would be victorious at the poll. ”

” In coming days, I will be meeting with the State Chairman and members of the State Executive Committee of our party to constitute a reconciliation committee with the ultimate goal of bringing all the waring factions together. Tongue and mouth do fight but they have learnt how to live together peacefully. ”

“To all our teaming supporters and the general public , I want to state again that the cases in court has nothing to do with my candidature. It is not a case between Alao and Onigbinde. It is a case of people who felt aggrieved by the action of the National Leadership of our dear party. However, we should show the difference between our party and other pseudo – progressive parties by resolving our crisis internally rather than approaching court of law which will further deepen the divisions. In order to lead by example, I will also reach out personally to co-aspirants, particularly, Dr. Akin Onigbinde and other leaders of the party for us to see reasons why our people must not continue to suffer as a result of our differences. ”

It should be recalled that the Oyo State Chapter of Alliance for Democracy had held parallel party primaries in September to choose its flag bearer. A decision which has divided the party into two but with the publication of names of gubernatorial candidates by INEC, the question as to who is the authentic candidate of the party has been laid to rest.
