As the race for who succeed incumbent Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State gathers momentum, Inside Oyo has highlighted some chieftains of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who may seek the party’s ticket in 2019.
Though Inside Oyo is unsure of whether these aspirants will still be together after the judgement of the Supreme Court on who is truly the authentic chairman of the party between former governors Ali Modu Sheriff and Ahmed Markafi.
1.Senator Teslim Folarin: the former senate leader and Ibadan titled chief became senator at 38. He is the only senator from the state to have served two terms. He came fourth during the last gubernatorial election.
2.Senator Ayo Adeseun: The former two-term Reps member was at The Senate between 2011 and 2015. The Ogbomoso-man is interested.
3) Senator Hosea Agboola: Rumour has it that the businessman and politician has his mind on Agodi Government House. Though he announced his ‘retirement’ from active politicking, the agitation by Okeogun indigenes has ‘forced’ the Igbojaye-born former senator into the race.
4) Femi Babalola: The Fiditi-born businessman and civil-engineering contractor is also interested. He has always been in PDP
5) Prof. Taoheed Adedoja: The former provost of the Federal College of Education (Special) has never pretended to have intention for the number one seat. He was SUBEB chairman, commissioner and later youth and sports minister.
6) Prof. Adesoji Adejumo: The academic was SUBEB chairman. He has interest in the coveted seat.e
