His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR National Leader of APC,
The National Chairman All Progressives Congress (APC),
The National Working Committee (NWC),
The National Organising Secretary,
The National Legal Adviser,
And All Relevant Organs of Our Great Party
Appeal for Justice, Transparency and Due Process in the Ibadan South East/Ibadan North East House of Representatives Primary Election
We write as loyal members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and on behalf of Hon. Lasisi Opeyemi Ibrahim (OJASOPE), an aspirant in the House of Representatives Primary Election for Ibadan South East/Ibadan North East Federal Constituency held on 16th May 2026.
First and foremost, we give thanks to Almighty Allah and express our profound appreciation to our father and leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leadership of our great party, delegates, stakeholders, supporters, and party members for their commitment to democracy, party unity, and the continued progress of APC.
The purpose of this open letter is not to create division within our party but to respectfully draw the attention of the party leadership to serious concerns arising from the conduct of the primary election. These concerns include reported cases of over-voting, non-conduct of elections in several wards, alleged alteration of results, and other irregularities which, in our view, require a thorough and independent investigation.
Despite these concerns, the authentic results available to us indicate that Hon. Lasisi Opeyemi Ibrahim (OJASOPE) secured the highest lawful votes across the constituency with a total of 974 votes.
For the sake of transparency and public record, the constituency-wide results available to us show the following ranking of aspirants:
1. Hon. Lasisi Opeyemi Ibrahim (OJASOPE) – 974 votes
2. Iyiola Ibrahim – 883 votes
3. Morufat Isiaq Ajibola – 862 votes
4. Sakirat Adebola Adetunji – 386 votes
5. Bakare Nurudeen – 256 votes
6. Fola Akinosun – 198 votes
7. Semih Alao – 133 votes
8. Sekinat Tolanikawo Akande – 120 votes
9. Ridwan Sanusi – 77 votes
10. Mogaji Mato – 66 votes
11. Femi Alayande – 25 votes
12. Ganiyat Omo Oku Orun – 0 votes
13. Isiaq Areokuta – 0 votes
These figures clearly indicate that Hon. Lasisi Opeyemi Ibrahim (OJASOPE) secured the highest lawful votes cast across both local governments. It is therefore surprising that despite these figures, conflicting claims and declarations continue to circulate, creating uncertainty among party members and stakeholders.
Our concern is not directed at any individual aspirant. Rather, it is about protecting the integrity of our great party and ensuring that the genuine wishes of delegates and party members are respected.
Throughout his political journey, Hon. Lasisi Opeyemi Ibrahim has remained committed to grassroots mobilisation, youth empowerment, humanitarian service, community development, and the growth of APC. The overwhelming support he received across the constituency reflects the confidence reposed in his candidacy and his capacity to effectively represent the people while leading APC to victory in future elections.
We respectfully submit that any perception of manipulation, injustice, or imposition may negatively affect party unity, grassroots mobilisation, member confidence, and ultimately the electoral fortunes of our party. APC has always stood for internal democracy, fairness, and respect for due process.
The APC Constitution, the Electoral Act, and party guidelines provide clear procedures for the emergence of candidates. Consensus is applicable only where aspirants voluntarily agree. Where consensus is not achieved among multiple aspirants, a transparent primary election remains the legitimate democratic pathway for selecting candidates.
The thousands of party members and stakeholders who supported this aspiration deserve assurance that their voices matter and that their votes will be respected.
We therefore respectfully appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Chairman, the National Secretary, the National Organising Secretary, the National Legal Adviser, members of the National Working Committee, and all relevant organs of our great party to thoroughly investigate the reported irregularities, allegations of manipulation, over-voting, non-conduct of elections in some wards, and alleged result alterations associated with this primary election.
We respectfully urge the party leadership to ensure that justice, transparency, fairness, and due process prevail in the overall interest of APC, party unity, and electoral success.
This appeal is made not only in the interest of Hon. Lasisi Opeyemi Ibrahim (OJASOPE), but also in the interest of our great party, the integrity of our democratic process, and the thousands of members who participated in the primary election in good faith.
We remain committed to peace, party unity, and the progressive ideals upon which APC was founded.
May truth prevail.
May justice prevail.
May our great party continue to grow stronger.
Yours faithfully,
ADEBAYO ASHIATA
