Your Excellency,

We, the Saki Youth Organization, extend our deepest appreciation for your tireless efforts in transforming the education sector in Oyo State. Your commitment to merit-based teacher recruitment and implementation of the minimum wage has earned widespread acclaim, and we are grateful for your dedication to the welfare of our educators and citizens.

However, we would like to bring to your attention a matter of great concern to us, which is the sad state of Government Technical College, Saki. This institution, once a beacon of excellence in vocational and technical education, has been facing significant challenges in recent times. The college’s infrastructure is in disrepair, its equipment is outdated, and the learning environment is far from being conducive.

These challenges have not only affected the quality of education but have also led to a decline in enrollment and a loss of interest in technical education among our youth.

Government Technical College, Saki has a rich history and has produced many skilled artisans and technicians who have made significant contributions to our community and beyond. As you may know, Saki people are vocation-inclined, with a strong tradition of craftsmanship, particularly in metalwork.

We are renowned for producing some of the best iron pots in the world, showcasing our technical expertise. We believe that by reviving Saki Technical College, we can tap into this potential and provide our youth with the skills necessary to excel in these areas.

The college’s strategic location in Saki makes it an ideal hub for technical education in our region. We are elated to learn that the 2025 budget includes provisions for renovation of Government Technical College, Saki.

We respectfully appeal to you to ensure that these funds are released and utilized promptly and effectively to address the pressing needs of the college. We urge you to prioritize the renovation of the college’s infrastructure, procurement of modern equipment, and creation of a conducive learning environment.

Specifically, we propose that the revitalized college include courses that leverage our community’s strengths, such as metalwork, blacksmithing, and other vocational skills. This will not only empower our youth but also preserve and promote our cultural heritage.

By revitalizing Saki Technical College, you will not only be reviving a vital institution but also empowering our youth with the skills necessary to drive economic growth and development. We believe that with your leadership and commitment to the development of Oyo State, Saki Technical College can become a thriving hub for technical education, providing our youth with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive world.

We have faith in your ability to make a positive impact on our community, and we look forward to seeing the tangible benefits of your administration’s efforts. Thank you for considering our appeal.
Be assured of our esteemed regards,

Esigned:
Kazeem Olamilekan OLADEJO, The President, Saki Youth Organization
