The chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oorelope Local Government, Akeem Adepoju Raheem, has lauded the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde and the state chapter of the PDP for the seamless and smooth conduct of primary elections that threw up candidates for forthcoming election.
Raheem, fondly called ARA, stated this on Friday, shortly after his name appeared on the list of chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates of the party for the May 2021 local government election.
According to the candidate, in a statement signed by the media coordinator of the ARA Campaign Team, Musediq Ayandiji, the visionary and pro-internal democracy antecedents of Governor Makinde was brought to bear on the process.
He equally lauded other stakeholders who saw to the smooth-sailing process, including the chairman, Oyo State Advisory Council, Senator Hosea Agboola, the state chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, the state secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke and other stakeholders, stating that with the exercise, PDP has demonstrated that it is the best party in terms of internal democracy.
Raheem, who also appreciated loyal party leaders and members in Oorelope Local Government for their mature and peaceful conduct during the party’s primaries, said truth has eventually triumphed over falsehood.
He said: “With the announcement of the list of candidates, we have come to a decisive end of a smooth internal party process. The seamless and smooth way the process was organised pointed to the visionary and pro-internal democracy credentials of our leader, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde.
“You would recall that even the Electoral Committee from the national headquarters of the party, headed by Senator Ningi attested to the free and fair process that produced the party’s candidates.
“Now that we are through with the important round that has to do with the party’s internal process, I want to encourage the good people of the state to continue to support the government of Engr. Makinde to deliver credible local government administration across the state as he has promised.
“I particularly urge my people in Oorelope Loca Government to put the past behind them and team up with the PDP to bring about good governance at the loca government level,” he said.
