He urged the group to remain united, focused and committed to its mobilisation activities, stressing the importance of sustained grassroots engagement in achieving its objectives.

In support of the group’s activities, Onireti pledged ₦2 million to the BSA Door-to-Door Campaign Support Group and also pledged to provide an operational bus to strengthen its mobilisation efforts across the state.

The City Boy Movement director also thanked the group for the confidence reposed in him, assuring them of his continued support as they pursue their campaign objectives.

“There is still a lot of work to do, and we must keep moving,” Onireti said.

Speaking earlier, the Director-General of the group, Hon. Boluwatife said the visit was organised to appreciate Onireti for his support and to formally confer on him the position of State Patron of the group.

According to him, the group considered Onireti’s experience, accessibility and commitment to supporting its activities important to its grassroots mobilisation efforts.

He expressed appreciation for the warm reception and support received from the City Boy Movement Director, describing the gestures as a major encouragement to the group’s members.

I have found Governor Seyi Makinde increasingly difficult to assess within the familiar Nigerian political mould. No governor, president or politician can be expected to get everything right. Governance is too complicated for that. Different groups have different interests. Some of those interests are legitimate. Some will conflict with others. Every government has to make choices, and every choice will disappoint somebody. What stands out to me is the thinking behind some of those decisions. Very early in his first term, Makinde made an argument about government remuneration that went beyond the usual complaint about workers being poorly paid. In...
