A gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State,Professor Adeolu Akande has said the choice of Otunba Ganiyu Adams as the Are Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland is good for the youths because it will motivate them to greater heights in patriotism,industry, perseverance and service to the people.
Akande said his years of relationship with Otunba Adams has demonstrated that the sky is the limit for a man who has a vision.
“The near fairy tale “From grass to grace” life story of Otunba Adams is an open book. It is a story of persevearance. It is a story of courage in the face of life’s challenges. It is a story of commitment to the protection of the lives and culture of his people. It is a story that teaches us that there is no limit to the heights that a man of vision, courage and valour can achieve”, he said.
Akande said from his exploits and sacrifice for the cause of his people particularly from the agitation for the sanctity of the June 12 1993 victory of Bashorun MKO Abiola,Otunba Adams has demonstrated a rare courage and readiness to make the sacrifice in defence of whatever he believes in.
“It is a rare coincidence of history that he has been asked to step into the big shoes of Bashorun MKO Abiola,a legend in whose defence Adams debuted as a couragious defender of his people’s interest”
Professor Akande counselled that the Are Ona Kakanfo should see his new appointment as a call for greater service to the people.
He also praised the Alafin of Oyo for the choice of Adams as the Are Ona Kakanfo,saying the monarch has shown that the Yoruba cherishes many values,not wealth alone.
” Kabiyesi has further shown that the Yoruba admires not only wealth but also courage,valour and service.
” Otunba Adams will motivate many of our youths that the society is watching their conduct and will reward them accordingly”.
