Children from all christian denominations welcomed Father Christmas with happiness and excitement as they converged on the UMCA Jerusalem, Igbeti on Wednesday to receive gifts sponsored by the wife of Honourable member representing Irepo, Oorelope Olorunsogo Federal Constituency, Mrs Olufunmilayo Ojerinde.
The father christmas, led the distribution of gifts to the children across all the town and villages in Olorunsogo local government, as they were treated to a take-away and fun-filled activities in the party.
In his opening remarks, the Senior Legislative Aide to Hon Olumide Ojerinde, Dr Abayomi Ogunnowo said this kind gesture by Mrs Olufunmilayo Ojerinde became necessary in Yuletide seasons where spirit of love and almsgiving should be expressed to all children.
Also, in her message to the children as delivered by Dr Abayomi Ogunnowo, Mrs Olufunmilayo Ojerinde extolled that the spirit of Christmas has remained the same in all ages.
She said: “It’s a time for celebration of joy, happiness, peace and togetherness. Irrespective of our religion, Christmas is a great season to celebrate, especially with children, because of its beautiful spirit, joyous time – a time of giving, a time of sharing, a time to spread love and message of the good news about the birth of Christ.”
She also charged all to see Christmas as a great opportunity to connect with our children and love ones.
She sued for peace, tolerance and understanding amongst constituents as her husband, Hon Olumide Ojerinde works assiduously to bring the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the constituents.
Mrs Ojerinde, while wishing them happy Christmas and new year in advance, she also prayed to God to grant everyone hitch free celebrations.
Dignitaries present at the event includes the CAN chairman and members of the excos in Olorunsogo local government among others.
