An aspirant for Saki West, Saki East and Atisbo Federal Constituency Seat at the House of Representatives, Abuja, Hon. Surv. Kunle Busari has said that the Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi III will not openly support any candidate in the 2023 General elections.
He made this known in a release personally signed by him and made available to newsmen on Friday, in Saki.
Busari said this statement while addressing people at a gathering about his vision and ambition where someone accused him of being the monarch’s boy because the monarch is also a surveyor by profession.
He said the monarch is a father to all adding that he’s giving all political parties a level playing ground for the love of Saki Land.
The statement read: “I was in a gathering a couple of days ago in Saki where I was sharing my vision and aspirations with our brothers. I identified some of our problems and proffer possible solutions. I was amazed at the kind of response I got from the folks at the gathering.
“However, the comment that prompted this write-up is about my profession, my relationship with his Royal Majesty Oba Khalid Olabisi, the Okere of Saki. A brother among them said to me, is Saki created for Surveyors alone? We know Kabiyesi is your mentor and sponsor. He continued, He Kabiyesi is an APC man, and he wants his boy to represent him in Abuja. A lot was said and I was happy on one hand that people could identify me with His Royal Majesty. Meanwhile, on the other hand, I am looking at the chances of winning more friends if the general perception is that Kabiyesi is with me on this journey. Above all, what will be the reaction of my co-aspirant for Federal Representative?
“Without mincing words, I quickly put up my thinking cap and educate my audience that I might be in the good book of Okere, however, I will not like the assumption to be taken for the true position. I said to them, the Okere I know will not openly support any candidates respective of their profession, he is an Intelligent and smart politician of note. He will consider the effects of such grave action on his subjects.
“For instance, in my party APC, I have other aspirants like my good brother Imolede Omobilu, Hon. J West, Dangote, and others I don’t know yet. They are all Kabiyesi’s subject, will they be happy that the His Royal Majesty singled me out and throw his weight behind me?
“Let us look at the number of political parties making waves in Saki. We have PDP, SDP, and ADC with a political heavyweight. I am sure they won’t be happy if The Okere, father of all chose to pitch his tent with my candidacy and party alone. I instantly disabuse their mind on that thought and make them see the danger in Okere aligning with a political party.
“The Okere I know has a ladder in his palace. Anyone willing to climb to a higher height with the ladder is free to use it. That is a word I heard from His Highness. I was able to convince my brothers at that assembly that Saki is blessed with a rich King, with a wealth of experience, his exposure, and charisma aura is working for him and Saki in general. He loves Saki, he wants the progress of Saki, and as such, Okere is giving all the political parties a level playing ground to operate. No preferred candidate either. I quickly begged my brothers to support my aspirations based on merit and not my relationship with the Okere of Saki.
