Alumni of the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic formerly known as The Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa has applauded the duo of Governor Seyi Makinde and Oyo Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin on the re-appointment of Dr. Samuel Ogundiran as the Chairman Governing Board.
The group of alumni in a statement described Oguniran as a man of integrity, whose efforts to solve the crisis facing the institute was truncated by the management of the last administration led by the former rector, Mr. Iyiola Eyitayo.
According to the statement signed by Ojoawo Mosunmola and Oke Wasiu- coordinators of the ex-students of the school who suffered the unaccredited courses crisis and till date were not mobilised for the compulsory scheme- National Youth Service Corps, NYSC noted that Ogundiran made compassionate and significant efforts but then Rector prefers oppressing and extorting students for personal gains.
The statement said, “Appointing an Associate Professor of Educational Administration and Planning, who also has deep understanding of the challenges facing Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic is a prove that Governor Seyi Makinde’s led government is not interested in playing politics with the destinies of Oyo State students.
“For over three years now, as graduates of the institution we are denied NYSC scheme and non-issuance of certificates by the institution, we took to the street, we protested but the former Rector, Eyitayo prefer hiring armed security personnel to harass, arrest and manhandle us.
“Now, we see them running from pillar to poles, from one junky blog to another, alleging the newly appointed Chairman Dr. Ogundiran of EFCC arrest on financial misappropriation which was not true.
“It is laughable that a team of destiny destroyers that were suspended as a result of the misappropriation of funds, and other issues causing crisis in the polytechnic as discovered by the visitation panel setup by Governor Makinde’s administration, now have gut to be pointing accusing fingers.”
The group thus congratulates Dr. Ogundiran and other members of the board while charging them to hit the ground running and resolve the crisis of unaccredited courses in the school in order to save the helpless students.
