Winners have emerged on Tuesday, in the Ogbomoso Open table tennis competition organized by Engineer Muftau Open Salawu in honour of Late Prince Fatai Ashafa Oyewumi popularly known as F. A. O.
The competition which has over 150 athletes that participated has Under 15, Under 30 and Under 60 men’s singles categories.
Amos Ayomide defeated Azeez Abdulahi to claim the first position while Abiodun Toheeb defeated Okeniyi Ayomide to claim the third spot in the Under 15 category.
For the Under 30 category, Omotoso Adamawa defeated Diamond Sky while Adeyemi Oluwafemi defeated Ibrahim to claim the third position.
The Under 60 category, Owolabi Abdulfatai defeated Aderibigbe Ismaila to clinch the gold medal while Istijaba defeated Alhaji Ibrahim to claim the third spot.
Meanwhile for three categories, the winner went home with cash prize of N25,000. The Runner up’s went home with N15,000 while those who claimed third spot won N10,000.
While speaking during the presentation, the Ogbomoso born civil engineer, Open Salawu said that sport is a vital tool for development. He promised to continue to sponsor the competition annually.
He also promised that the cash prizes will improve in the subsequent edition.
