Chief coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Edith Agoye, has promised that his men would do everything humanly possible to win their final group game of the Nigeria National League, NNL Super 8 play-offs against Ekiti United.
The game is schedule for Saturday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, and the Oluyole Warriors need victory to secure promotion ticket back to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) regardless of the outcome between the evening game between Remo Stars also with four points and Bendel Insurance.
The Oluyole Warriors after a 2-1 victory over Benin Arsenals in the opener were on Wednesday morning forced to a 1-1 draw by Remo Stars leaving both sides with four points each.
After a goalless situation in the first half, substitute Anthony Okachi who replaced Odeyemi Ebenezer put the Oluyole Warriors ahead in the 75th minute before Agbeko Morgan drew parity in the 85th minute.
“We would have loved to win this match [against Remo] to confirm our promotion to the NPFL but unfortunately it didn’t happen the way we wanted it.
“We have four points with a game to go, Remo Stars have four points with a game to go, so we are going to approach the last match against Ekiti United with the aim of winning. We are determined and prepared to win our last game and our focus is mainly on victory,” Agoye, a former 3SC and Esperance of Tunisia forward said in a post-match interview.
The Oluyole Warriors have been struggling to return to NPFL following their relegation from the Nigerian top-flight at the end of the 2017 season alongside ABS FC of Ilorin, Remo Stars and Gombe United.
In 2019, 3SC almost sealed their NPFL return through playoffs too but the hope was dashed following a 0-3 loss to the relatively unknown Akwa Starlets at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
