The Babalaje of Ogbomoso land and Executive Assistant on Project Monitoring to the Governor of Oyo state, Engineer Muftau Open Salawu has expressed optimism that the new year 2024 will be more prosperous.
The Waziri Jari of Nupe Kingdom said this in a new year message made available to journalists, on Monday, in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Open Salawu said that the year 2023 was very challenging to every phase of life adding that many families have not been feeding very well as a result of high cost of living, inflation, and low income.
He announced that he has decided to give 1,000 households a financial support of 5,000 each.
The Giwa Adini of Oyo state commended the Oyo state government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde over the improvement in the security architecture of the state.
He urged the federal government to leverage on the established security system in Oyo state.
The statement read: “The year 2023 was very challenging to every phase of life. Be it economic, politics, security but we thank God for seeing us through it and we hope 2024 will be more prosperous for us all.
“Nigeria inflation is about 30% and the exchange rate suffered more than 100% devaluation in the year 2023, despite critical measures taken by the central government. It is so sad that the controversial minimum wage has more value 8 years ago than what the workers are having now due to naira devaluation and inflation.
“Politics as it is expected in every change in administration attracts new policy and policy somersaults that do have adverse effects on the projections generally.
“Security could be better throughout the country. The Oyo State Government has tremendously improved the security architecture of the state and the Federal government can leverage on the established security system of Oyo by injecting more infrastructure into the state.
“Many families have not been feeding too well as a result of high cost of living, inflation, and low income. In view of all these challenges, I have decided to give 1000 households a financial support of 5,000 each. May the new year bring Us happiness, peace and prosperity. Wishing you a joyous 2024.”
