Kola Asatola Asanike, an aspirant for Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2023 elections has identified the mismanagement of resources as one of the problems for the backwardness of people in Nigeria.
Asanike who spoke on a radio station program in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Tuesday said the poor leadership of the political class that has failed the masses is the major reason he is contesting for the Senatorial seat.
The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) added that if given the mandate, he promised to bridge the wide gap between the rich and the poor.
His words: “Our people are facing challenges in all areas of life, particularly in the areas of economic development.
“The mismanagement of their resources has taken the people backward, making the constituents one of the poorest, in terms of poverty and despondency.
“The people suffer the scourge of mass illiteracy, avoidable deaths occasioned by a poor health delivery system, visionless leadership and poor governance.
“The time has come for old and tired politicians to to embrace new political views and policies that will be people-oriented that will be championed by youths.
”My aspiration is about a new vision, leadership style and people-oriented projects. Fortunately, this is what the people are craving.
“I have the necessary required qualifications, background and experience to win credible elections. It is about new energy and likeability deeply rooted in general acceptability.”
