The Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oyo state, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha has declared that the party’s presidential and gubernatorial candidates, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will win February 16 and March 2 polls in the state with wide margin.
Mustapha disclosed this on Monday night while speaking with journalists after the team concluded its local government tour which lasted about four weeks.
The team ended the tour on Monday with a tour of Ibadan North East local, moving between mammoth crowd which followed and welcomed it in all its destinations across the local government environment.
This, Mustapha said is a final testament of the party’s popularity and willingness and resolve of the people of the to vote for PDP.
He said, “having toured all the 33 local government areas in the state, my first observation is that the people of the state want our party, PDP in power.
“There is this enthusiasm I noticed in people. We were well received and welcomed to all the local government we visited, this cleared my doubt that as from this Saturday, February 16 and on March 2, our presidential and gubernatorial candidates will win with a wide margin in Oyo state.”
Alhaji Mustapha explained further that the party has continued to wax stronger immediately after its primaries, saying that he has also given it a big edge over other parties as more politicians in the state are ready to meet them even before they extend same to them.
On the chances of the party in the Oke-Ogun zone, the businessman said the tide has changed from what it was in 2015.
“In Iseyin, to be specific, APC led us with 11,000 votes in 2015. Today, APC does not has that strength on the same local government again.
“Another reason is the fact that we continue to have new entrants in the party as we campaign in the zone, I can tell you PDP is now stronger than what people think and we are convinced this will translate to electoral victory for us on Saturday and March 2,”, Mustapha stated.
