Governor Seyi Makinde has officially sent a condolence message to the family of late Senator Abiola Ajimobi to commiserate with them.
This is coming after a lot of backlash from the public following the outcry of the former Oyo first lady, Florence Ajimobi.
Immediately after the burial of Senator Ajimobi, Mrs Ajimobi berated the state government led by Governor Makinde for playing politics with the death of her husband.
In a letter circulating on social media on Saturday, Governor Makinde commiserate with the family. He said the ex-governor lived a life of service humanity and contributed to the socio economic development of Oyo state and Nigeria.
Meanwhile, while featuring on BOTTOMLINE on IBR 92.5fm. the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Taiwo Adisa revealed that the State government is in contact with the family.
Mr Adisa said a committee of the State government is working with the family in line of trying to give him (late Ajimobi) a befitting 8 day Fidau.
“I can tell you that originally, the state government planned big for the dead yes. We dont want him to die because his death is a big loss to the state a lot of people will not know. They kept on jumping up and down on the social media. They dont know the details of it all. They dont even know what his death meant to the state. It is the people in government and the Governor that know what his death meant and may be a few family members but we are not going to dwell on all that. We are just going to tell you that the state government is doing things the right time”
Governor Abiola Ajimobi died on June 25 in Lagos from COVID-19 complications.
