Lawmaker representing Lagelu State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olajide Akintunde Emmanuel has commended the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde over a letter he sent to the house which asked for the transmission of power to his Deputy, Barr. Bayo Lawal while the governor is on vacation.
Hon. Olajide also known as AKT gave the commendation while featuring on Raypower Ibadan current affairs programme tagged; Politics Today on Monday, anchored by the Award Winning Broadcast Journalist, Olayemi Afolabi.
His words “Governor Makinde deserved commendation for transiting a letter to us (House of Assembly) which made Barr. Bayo Lawal acting Governor of Oyo State.
“You know nature does not support vacuum and the law asked for it if the governor will be away for vacation.”
Asked to comment about the suspension of Ido Local Government Chairman by the Councilors, being the House Committee Chairman on local government and chieftaincy matters, AKT said “Those Councilors are in order”
On his vision to see that dividends of democracy are accelerated across the 33 local government council in Oyo State while performing his oversight functions as the new Chairman of House Committee on local government and chieftaincy matters, Hon. Olajide Akintunde Emmanuel AKT said ” I don’t know what the Speaker, Rt Honourable Debo Ogundoyin saw in me by appointing me but we will perform our overnight functions very well by constantly monitoring chairmen at the council.
“However, people thought my portfolio is all about local government administration but also vital are culture, tradition because of our Obas and honour.”
