The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has called on youths in the country to be change agents for the good of the society.

Magu gave the charge at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iseyin, Oyo State, on November 27, 2018.

Represented by Ayo Oyewole, Head, Public Affairs, EFCC Ibadan Office, he said, “The enduring success in the fight against economic crime, including corruption can only be achieved when all stakeholders particularly the youth, embrace this important fight”.

He urged the corps members to be role models and change agents wherever they go in the course of their national service and beyond.

According to him, “you are not to be mere spectators in the anti-graft campaign; rather, you should be the foot soldiers of the fight by becoming change agents and help mould the minds of the younger ones in the schools so that the fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes can be far reaching. It is of great importance to keep reminding you as youths that you are critical stakeholders of your roles in curbing corruption”.

He further said that the youths who are the future leaders of the nation must shun all forms of corruption and embrace hard work.

“You must stay away from any act of criminality which might yield immediate gains but will result into gnashing of teeth at the end. You are expected to take the lead in the fight against corruption’’, he reiterated.

He encouraged them to join the EFCC/NYSC Community Development Group of which its members form the EFCC/ NYSC Integrity Club, stressing that this will avail them the opportunity to work with the advocacy arm of the Commission and be in a position to serve as change agents by helping to mould kids in schools across the nation.

Also representing Magu at the NYSC orientation camps in Okada, Edo State and Issele Ukwu, Delta State, Mary Ogolekwu, used the opportunity of the Anti-Corruption Sensitization Walk on November 26 and 27, 2018 to charge the youths to shun corrupt practices.

“Remember your role in the fight against corruption, be our whistle blowers and change agents, report acts that fail the simple test of integrity and imbibe hard work, excellence and integrity thereby building a society of law and order,” Ogolekwu said.
