Governor Abiola Ajimobi yesterday denied allegation of imposition of candidates for the forthcoming council elections in Oyo State.
Ajimobi, who spoke during a meeting that lasted more than two hours at the Oke-Ado state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said all he wants is for the primaries to be peaceful.
Insideoyo.com had reported allegations of plan to impose candidates for the election levelled against the governor.
At the meeting which started around 2:00 pm and attended by leaders of the party from across the 33 local government, Ajimobi was quoted to have told the party to go on with their planned primaries, adding that “but they should ensure it was devoid of crisis,” sources told insideoyo.com.
Insideoyo.com learnt that the assurance from the governor threw the meeting into wild applause.
“The governor specifically told the party leadership to go on with the conduct of primaries, stressing that he has no anointed candidates among the aspirants. But, he, however, charge the party to ensure that the primaries is devoid of chaos,” another source confided in insideoyo.com.
