The excitement in the Accord family of Oyo South Senatorial District knew no bounds on Friday as they received decampees from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibarapa East Local Government into the party.

At an event held at the Eruwa Town Hall, the APC members, under the aegis of Success Group, led by Mr. Omileke Olugbemiga and Hon. Ademola Adeyemi, were officially received into the Accord fold by the senatorial candidate of the party in the zone, Kolapo Kola-Daisi, alongside the party chairman in the lbarapa East, Alhaji Ajiboye, and party chieftain, Hon. Bimbo Adepoju.

Highlighting their reasons for leaving APC, the decampees stressed that the people-oriented plans of Accord was a huge motivating factor that informed their choice, as it clearly solidifies their chances of winning at the forthcoming polls.

Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Olugbemiga said: “We have seen the light. Anyone who doubts the convincing manner with which the people have accepted Accord in this local government and across Oyo South is lying to his or herself. The message is clear, the platform is unstained, the candidates are very popular, and the people are widely convinced. Who wouldn’t want to join such team?”

Corroborating Olugbemiga’s claims, Adeyemi said their decision is informed by the fact that Accord is the only credible alternative the people have embraced, especially considering the hardship they’ve endured from other parties till date.

“There is no need to be beating about the bush, the people are not stupid. We are not stupid. It is clear to everyone that Accord is the only credible alternative that the people have accepted and will vote for, and as a group, we want to be in the fold of winners, hence, our move today.

“We decided to pitch our tent here with you because this is where the people are headed, no doubt,” he added.

Addressing the decampees, Kola-Daisi assured that they will be treated as a core part of the Accord family like every other member of the party, not strangers or mere tag-alongs.

“I thank and congratulate you all for making the right decision. You have done well by aligning with us and with the people. If you look at the quality of our candidates and our plans, Accord is the only party that is truly ready to serve the people rightfully, it is not far-fetched that the people have accepted us so well.

“Be rest assured that you are now part of the family, the leading party across the whole Oyo South and Oyo State in general. I am confident that we will succeed together,” the senatorial candidate said.

Present at the event was the state women leader of the party, Mrs. Mabel Williams, and the candidate for the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Hon. Wahab Oladejo, who spoke convincingly to welcome the latest Accord members.
