Kayode Babayomi Returns as Oyo AAC Chairman, Vows to Strengthen Grassroots Revolution

Comrade Kayode Babayomi David has emerged as the State Chairman of the Oyo state chapter of the African Action Congress (AAC) for a second term.

The election, which was supervised by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was held on Saturday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Other elected officers include:Olalekan Adisa – State Secretary, Alabi Iyabo – Woman Leader, Erupre Gift – Treasurer, Oladosu Abayomi Abidemi – Auditor, Atetoro Adeniyi – Vice Chairman (Oyo Central), Abdul Rafiu Ismail – Publicity Secretary, Kolapo Titilope – Youth Leader, Musediq Ramon – Organizing Secretary, and Oladuni Sunday Amos – Vice Chairman (Oyo North).

In his acceptance speech, Babayomi described his return as a “sacred responsibility” to continue the struggle for justice and liberation in Oyo State and across Nigeria.

He said: “You have, once again, trusted me to lead this great movement as the Chairman of our party here in Oyo State. I do not take this lightly. This is not just an office, it is a sacred responsibility. It is a call to serve, to fight for justice, and to keep pushing until we see a free and prosperous Nigeria.”

Reflecting on the challenges faced in his first tenure, Babayomi said the AAC had been mocked, intimidated, and ignored by political elites but still managed to build structures across communities in Oyo.

“Looking back at the past four years, it has not been an easy road. We have faced challenges that could have broken us. But despite it all, we remained steadfast. Why? Because we know this fight is bigger than us. It is for our children, our communities, and generations yet unborn,” he stated.

Babayomi charged the newly elected executives to see their roles as service to the people rather than mere political titles.

“This is not just a title. It is a heavy responsibility. You are now servants of the people, and history will judge you not by the positions you hold but by the impact you make,” he declared.

He also urged members of the party to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the coming political battles.

“Talk to your families, your neighbors, your colleagues, and even strangers about what we stand for. Preach the message of revolution and liberation everywhere you go. Do not wait for election season to start working. Politics is not only about campaigns; it is about daily engagement with the people.”

Babayomi warned against internal division, describing it as the greatest weapon of the ruling class against revolutionary forces.

“Division is the enemy’s greatest weapon. If we fight among ourselves, we make it easy for the corrupt to win. But when we stand together as one voice and one movement, nothing can stop us.”

The AAC Chairman concluded by promising to serve with “humility, transparency, and courage,” insisting that the movement in Oyo State would not betray the trust of its members.

“Together, we will take AAC to greater heights. Together, we will shake the foundations of bad governance in Oyo State and across Nigeria.

“Comrades, today is a victory, but it is only the beginning. Let us leave here with renewed energy and a clear mission. The people are watching. The youth are waiting. The future is calling. We cannot afford to fail.

“Go back to your communities and spread the message. Let us build the structures, mobilise the masses, and prepare ourselves for the battles ahead. Revolution is not a dream, it is a reality that we must create with our own hands.
