An open letter has been written to the lawmaker representing Oyo East/ Oyo West in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Barr. Muideen Olagunju by one of his constituents and ‘frontline supporter’, Rahaman Olorunpoto.
Mr. Olorunpoto, said the Assembly, “which is constitutionally empowered to check the Executive arm and, on behalf of the people, insist on delivery, accountability and transparency, has reduced itself to an appendage of the Executive, with unprecedented level of feebleness,” advised the lawmaker, who chairs the House Committee on Ethics, Human Rights and Public Petitions to “investigate and make recommendations to the House” over the three chairmanship nominees who were not certified fit by the lawmakers but were inaugurated by Governor Ajimobi.

OPEN LETTER TO HON. MUIDEEN OLAGUNJU, OYO EAST/OYO WEST STATE CONSTITUENCY.
CHAIRMAN HOUSE COMMITTEE ON ETHICS, HUMAN RIGHTS, PUBLIC PETITIONS.
Dear Sir,
HERE IS A CHANCE FOR YOU TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT AND JUSTIFY PUBLIC TRUST REPOSED IN YOU
This is a very crucial period in the history of Oyo State. The capability of the current government to deliver is increasingly questioned, at least in the circles for folks who are appealed by the state of education, healthcare, finance and other areas in Oyo State.
Worse still, the House of Assembly which is constitutionally empowered to check the Executive arm and, on behalf of the people, insist on delivery, accountability and transparency, has reduced itself to an appendage of the Executive, with unprecedented level of feebleness.
However, the House is not a formation of members drawn from just one political party. And although we have an unfortunate case of a weak House, you being an opposition lawmaker like few others have an opportunity or duty to show difference. Unfortunately, you are perceived as an opposition lawmaker in name but indeed a adefender of the not just the weak House but also the poor working Executive. This is a narrative I don’t personally believe.
Now, you have an opportunity to convince the people and shred that narrative.
Over a week ago, the Oyo State House of Assembly rejected the nomination of two Local Government Council Caretaker Chairmen but the Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi confirmed both as LG Caretaker Chairmen and even substituted another nominee who already passed the OYHA screening with another person who did not appear before the house.
As the Chairman House committee on Ethics, Public Petitions and Human Rights, your committee is already saddled with the responsibility to investigate and make recommendations to the House on this anomalies.
Brother, please be reminded of your uprightness, integrity and good character, and that you have a stainless reputation among your supporters and non supporters. Do your best to carry out this assignment in line with the promises made to your supporters and the oath of office.
At this point, you have the opportunity to make your contributions to the development of our dear State. All eyes are focused on you at the moment my brother, please do not allow any form of intimidation to affect your report.
If possible, be an isolated voice reason in the weak House on matters that are germane. Is there any secret benefit or privilege the lawmakers get from the Governor that then affect their capacity to challenge him?
You can always be sure of my support as long as you do things right. May the Lord in his wisdom continue to guide and direct you.
Your brother, front line supporter and a constituent.
