The Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government Area, Hon Lawal Lateef Akorede on Tuesday visited the base of the mobile policemen drafted to Igangan and donated some household items like bed, standing fans, generator, others.
Akorede who was accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Mr Samuel Adegbenjo and the DPO of the council urged them to work with the local security outfits like Amotekun, Vigilante, Hunters and others.
The mobile policemen were drafted following a reprisal attack by suspected Fulani bandits on Igangan town which left 11 people dead, according to the Police and many injured.
The palace of the monarch, Asigangan of Igangan, Oba Lasisi Adeoye, was also set ablaze.
He implored them to discharge their duty properly and should focus on what brought them to the town adding that the goal is to keep Ibarapa safe.
He said cleaning of the base has been done before their arrival and the base has been picked as the best location for them in line with the task ahead adding that the donation is part of the promise of the government to combat the security challenges.
He thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for fulfilling his promises as he has always been doing. He also thanked the Asigangan of Igangan, Oba Lasisi Adeoye, for accommodating them and the people of Igangan for their tolerance.
He urged the people of Igangan to cooperate with them and make work easy by reporting any strange faces or behaviors around
He said: “My people, let us cooperate with the mobile police and also help them to make this work easy for them.
“We should not forget that they are here for us; if you notice any suspicious movements, strange faces and strange behaviors around you, please report immediately.”
