Ibadan Recreation Club 1902, a foremost social club and first cosmopolitan recreation club in Sub-Saharan Africa, has installed its new Executive Council led by the newly elected President, Olumide Daramola.
The inauguration ceremony held on April 14, 2026, saw the swearing-in of key officials including Oyewumi Ojo (Vice-President), Kolawole Shittu (General Secretary) Johnson Babatunde (Membership Secretary), and Chris Olusesi (Sports Secretary).
Other Executive Council members that were sworn-in includes Sunday Adeyemo (Treasurer), Florence Ekpebor (Assistant General Secretary), Oseni Olakunle (Social Secretary), Bankole Oyewole (Maintenence Secretary) and Ademola Adegoke (Bar Secretary).
In his inaugural address, the new President, Olumide Daramola outlined his leadership reformation plan codenamed GRA Optimized agenda.
He explained that his administration would have keen focus on elevating Games in the Club, nurture bonds and Relationships, and enhance the Ambience of the club.
He emphasized that the club would witness evident transformation and facelift within his 100 days in office.
Speaking during the Swearing-in exercise, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ibadan Recreation Club 1902, Pa. Audley Ogie Alakija commended the newly elected Central Executive Council members for stepping forward to serve the Club in different capacities. He admonished them to uphold the constitution, and not forget to fulfil the promises they made to the electorates during the electioneering process.
While wishing them all the best and a successful tenure, he further charged the new President to ensure that he fosters unity of purpose and harmony amongst his new Executives and the entire club at large.
The swearing-in event drew esteemed members, dignitaries and guests, underscoring Ibadan Recreation Club (1902)’s prominence in Nigeria’s social and sporting landscape.
The new leadership promises a vibrant chapter for the growth of the Club and enhanced experience for her members.
