Taiwo Lekan Salami, an aspirant for Ibadan North Federal Constituency Seat at the House of Representatives has said that his decision to join politics was borne out of his desire to return selfless services, genuine empowerment and goodwill to the people through quality representation.
Taiwo Lekan Salami, son of late eminent Ibadan elder statesman, Chief Lekan Salami said this during a media chat on Friday, with journalists at his campaign office in Ibadan.
He said that aside his father’s name and legacies, he has been able to carve a niche for himself in a spheres of life adding that with inspiration of good governance from Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, it was only proper for him to join in building a better Oyo state.
While commending Governor Seyi Makinde for allowing primaries when consensus failed, he expressed confidence that of the fourteen aspirants under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ticket, he would emerge a better candidate if granted the party’s ticket.
He also acknowledged that apart from his political interest, he had been involved in lot of social welfare schemes and people oriented interventions to uplift the status of his constituents, noting that currently over 200 members of his constituency were employed into his organizations and much more empowerment initiatives through the Lekan Salami Foundation.
Speaking on his manifesto if elected, Taiwo Lekan Salami outlined his SEPE Agenda saying P stands for Poverty Eradication, E stands for Empowerment, S stands for Sports development, E stands for Education.
He affirmed his determination in ensuring poverty eradication, genuine empowerment, education and sport development in his constituency, pledging his continued loyalty to the party and growth of the state.
He also urged electorates in the state to take advantage of the ongoing voter’s registration exercise to get their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) and actively participate in ensuring leaders of worth get into elective offices
His words: “Selfless service is back. I’m a candidate that’s ready to work, that would give purposeful representation, that will attract immense development and project, that has character and integrity.
“A candidate that has excelled in business, that’s competent and have people’s interest at heart not a candidate that will abandon you.
“A candidate that will empower you from day one, that’s the candidate that Taiwo Lekan Salami stands for and that’s a candidate we should support and encourage.
“We have manifesto carved under four letters. We initially called it the Ps agenda which is PEES but later we changed it to SEPE Agenda, we localized it. P stands for poverty eradication, E stands for Empowerment, S stands for Sports development, E stands for Education.
“Those are the cardinal pillars of what our developmental agenda is going to be all about. We are very proud of it, we have different agenda under it.”
