A candidate of the 9th House of Representatives Speakership election, Hon Mohammed Umaru Bago on Thursday, attended the Ramadan lecture and the commissioning of empowerment center of Hon Shina Abiodun Peller, member-elect, Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kojola federal constituency in Iseyin, Oyo state.
This was made known in a post on his official twitter account seen by InsideOyo.com.
It reads: “I attended my friend and brother,Hon. Shina Ayo Peller’s event today, the opening of the Shina Ayo Peller @ShinaPeller Empowerment centre and Ramadan lecture in Iseyin, Oyo State. The title of the Ramadan lecture is instructive: Uniting for a purpose.
“Promise Made and Kept; You will not be my friend only when I am seeking your vote. This is the message to my colleagues as we attempt to choose our own leader generically, the speaker of the 9th assembly.
“I look forward to identifying with other colleagues, no matter where your Constituencies are, they will never be too far for me.”
Bago, who was elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress represents Chanchaga federal constituency of Niger State.
Insideoyo.com gathered that Bago has declared interest to contest the Speakership position of the 9th assembly with the party’s candidate, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila.
Other candidates are Jide Olatunbosun (APC, Oyo), Abdulrazak Namdas (APC, Adamawa), Mukhtar Aliyu Betara (APC, Borno), Idris Wase (APC, Plateau), Umar Bago (APC, Niger), Nkeiruka Onyejeocha (APC, Abia), John Okafor (APC, Imo), Babangida Ibrahim (APC, Katsina) and Mohammed Kazaure (APC, Jigawa).
