A coalition of youth groups and voluntary youth organizations in Oyo state passed a vote of confidence and endorsed the re-election bid of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Engr Seyi Makinde.
The group, led by its convener, Olajuwon Subair Adelokun, at a press conference in Ibadan, the state capital, on Thursday, said they are ready to work for the re-emergence of Governor Seyi Makinde with all their strengths.
The Youths which comprises over 79 youths and over 300 voluntary organizations said that they have unequivocally decided to support the good governance of the current administration.
He said: “We, the newly formed coalition of youths organizations in Oyo state are here to declare our support for the re-election bid of Engr Seyi Makinde. The coalition is an exciting development that brings young people from different backgrounds and groups with the common goal to support the current administration in the state.
“We, the youths are the ones who will shape the direction of the state. It’s therefore essential that the youths are invested into. All youths organizations ranging from young lawmakers, religious and others are involved in the activities of development.
“According to INEC, itt was recorded that youths are the most registered voters in Nigeria and they are ready to determine the leadership of Nigeria. The election in the last few weeks has shown how important the youths could be as they are the key characters.
“Hence, we’ll use all our strengths to mobilize people to vote and ensure that the election is peaceful. We will make sure that there’s no violence during and after the election.
“Our coalition is about action, we’ll work hard, the vision is to empower people to take action and make difference in their communities. We enjoy all youths in the state to join this coalition and vote for Engr. Seyi Makinde at the forthcoming election.”
Present at the press conference includes various youth organizations in the state.
