In a bid to unite members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in his senatorial district of Oyo central as well as Oyo State, Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete, on Monday met senatorial and party chairmen in the 11 local government areas.

The former Deputy National Youth Leader of the APC, who said the meeting was to begin a unification process aimed at preparing the party and its members for future elections, said a lot has to be done to wrestle power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.

According to the former aide of late former governor Abiola Ajimobi, the administration of President Bola Tinubu is doing everything to alleviate the sufferings of the teeming Nigerian populace, adding that there is need to give him time.

“I am happy to be meeting you today. I will be lying if I say my coming doesn’t have anything to do with politics and our party. First, let me use this opportunity to tell you about the administration of President Bola Tinubu. The man means well for the country, and he hasn’t rested since he got to power. You know man proposes, and God disposes. As things are, he needs to clean some messes before anything tangible can be achieved, and that is what he has been doing. Forget what the naysayers are saying.

“I am a former student leader. As such, I am never afraid of protest. I have participated in it, and if the need arises, I will take part again. I must tell you that this planned protest across the country is ill-timed. It is orchestrated by those who were defeated in the last election and are still shocked. President Tinubu has used just a year in office. Yes, we all want results, but it doesn’t happen like that. It takes time. It is like when you are building a duplex. You start from the ground, you prepare it, dig the ground, blind the floor, put iron rods, cements, and blocks. There are a lot of works to be done even before you finish what they call the German floor. That is a prerequisite for a solid project. Let’s go to our various communities and tell our people,We need to give this man time. This is our government. If those before him had done these things, we would have moved past these.

“I have come today to identify with you. Some of you have been asking why I have come. Yes, I am from Ona-Ara local government of this senatorial district. But we still have a long way to go. The next election is in three years’ time. May the God almighty preserve our lives beyond the next election. Whatever will happen, God will direct us

“I want to urge us all to forget whatever might have happened. We have been out of government for 5 years and may be for the three years, making 8 years. Let’s add the next 3 to our ages. If we don’t want to spend another 8 years outside government, the time starts now. Every good thing the government of Ajimobi did, the incumbent administration tried unsuccessfully to rubbish. We have to take back this state from him. There are a lot of our people who are capable of turning things around when put in a position of power. Let’s accommodate ourselves. There are lots to be achieved when we unite,” he added.
