A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State, Hon Akinwale Akinwole has said the All Progressives Congress, APC, should forget taking over the state from Governor Seyi Makinde’s led PDP in the state.
Akinwole popularly known as Wolekanle said the threat and plans by the opposition party to hijack the government on or before 2023 is a tall dream which would end in futility.
In a chat with Journalists in Ogbomoso on Saturday, the former secretary Ogbomoso North LG under APC said, “APC was rejected in Oyo state during the last election and I am very optimistic that Seyi Makinde’s performances with people’s will for a better government will dwarf them again.
“In less than two years, look at his records of unprecedented achievement in the state despite the pandemics and other unhealthy situation the Nation is going through, has been able to change many situations and a lot of things left undone by the immediate past administration are taking shape.”
“Apart from the huge investment in infrastructural development, Makinde has also been able to put smiles on the faces of retirees, civil servants, artisans, traders and others through his populism style of making life easier and better for all and sundry in the state.
“I left APC for PDP because identified with the good work and vision of Engineering Seyi Makinde. He is a governor that is genuinely interested in serving the people and we are seeing the results, he has not disappoint nor betray the confidence reposed in him.
On Insecurity, Wolekanle said “the situation is not peculiar to Oyo state alone, there is crisis everywhere and the inability of the APC led Federal Government to do the needful on the security situation is responsible for the what is happening everywhere but Governor Makinde is not sleeping, he is strategizing and making serious effort to put an end to it. Also, I believe security is everybody’s business, we should all be involved irrespective of our party affiliation.
When asked about the crisis in PDP and the chances of Seyi Makinde in 2023, Wolekanle said “Yes PDP is having its own challenges like every other party but and I can assure you that it will be over very soon, our leaders are working on that, and I want to use this medium to appeal to the aggrieved party members to please sheathe their swords and allow peace and unity to reign in the party.”
