Wife of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Mrs Florence Ajimobi has revealed her intention to establish a vocational training centre for girls who drop out of school.
She made this known at her office during a courtesy call by a two-man team from the British High Commission.
This is just as she pledged support towards improving the wellbeing of female gender in the state.
Reflecting on some of her activities since Governor Ajimobi’s administration came on board, the First lady recalled the drafting of a bill on prohibition of violence against women which was forwarded to the State House of Assembly and eventually passed 5 years after initiation.
She also listed the initiation of women empowerment programmes to guard against abuse of woman due to poverty or want as part of her contributions to female gender in Oyo state.
Responding, the British Deputy High Commissioner Laura Beaufils, enjoined the general public to not only educate their daughters on how to avoid getting abused but also educate the boys on how to respect and protect the women and girls in the society, adding that it is important for both women and men to work together for women rights.
She however expressed her readiness to collaborate with Oyo State government especially the office of the wife of the governor to impact positively the lives of female gender in the state.
