The immediate past caretaker of Ibadan North West local government, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun was absent yesterday night when Governor Abiola Ajimobi met behind closed doors with ex-council chairmen who served between 2011 and April 2017.
The meeting, which took place inside the Excos Chamber of the Governor’s Office and started after the inauguration of governing council of 6 Oyo tertiary institutions, is coming few months to parties’ primaries, preparatory to the 2019 general elections.
Sources, who confided in insideoyo.com, however, said they were not sure whether Olatubosun was invited or not.
A former chairman of Irepo Local government and state chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Hon. Yekinni Popoola, was said to have coordinated the former council helmsmen.
At the meeting which was said to have ended around 1 am, in the early hours of today, Ajimobi was said to have ‘stylishly’ begged the ex-council bosses to ‘remember the past’.
According to one of the sources, “Ajimobi harped on the need to close ranks among them. The governor said it is good for them to have a cordial relationship, just like they did when they were in the saddle. He urged them to remember the good old days adding that many good things are still on the way. He reminded them of how they worked tirelessly for his re-election bid in 2015…”
The meeting, insideoyo.com learnt, provided avenue for the ex-council chairmen to exchange pleasantries with each other after many months.
Efforts to know whether Olatubosun was invited or not proved abortive as his line was not reachable as at the time of filing this story.
Olatubosun, it would be recalled, was recently appointed member of a federal board.
