Former Oyo state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has sued Governor Seyi Makinde and other officials of the state government over revocation of his parcel of land at Government Reservation Area, GRA, in Ibadan, the state capital.
The former governor, the suits claims the sum of N15million from the defendants being cost of the action, including the expenses incurred to file each of the cases, and his attorney’s professional fees.
InsideOyo.com on Thursday, reported that the state government revoked some of parcels of lands in Agodi, Jericho GRA over alleged alteration of Land Use, others.
The revocation order, which was dated February 10, 2020, indicated that the affected plots of land were revoked for overriding public interest and for the use of the State Government.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, reads in part: “The Quarter was initially acquired by a former Governor of the State and revoked by his successor, who thereafter allocated the same to a top Ibadan businessman. The businessman had in turn, registered a “Deed of Gift” with the State’s Land Registry to indicate that he had given out the land to another former Governor of the state.”
But in an exclusive document made available to InsideOyo.com on Thursday, law firm in charge of Senator Ajimobi’s suit received a court summon inviting Governor Makinde, the Commissioner of Land and Housing as well as Oyo Attorney General over the revoking of the land.
The suit dated 12th of February, 2020 states that “the purported revocation is not borne out of good intentions”.
The court, also, restrained the government for further actions pending the hearings of court processes.
